Tea, culture, peace! Under this slogan, on the initiative of the Samarkand International University of Technology (SIUT), the II International Tea Festival was held at the Great Silk Road International Tourist Center. The importance of this drink for humanity is reflected in a special resolution of the UN General Assembly, according to which this date was set.
The festival dedicated to the ancient drink is being held in Samarkand for the second time. This year it has become more ambitious and representative. It was attended by leading Chinese experts and organizations, including the international project "Teo, Amo kaj la Mondo" ("Tea, Love and Peace"), and other partners.
On the occasion of the event, new samples of the best varieties of tea, tea drinking accessories, books about the cities of Samarkand, Tianjin, Hangzhou, colorful photographic materials, classical Chinese calligraphy dedicated to the drink were received from China to Samarkand International Technological University.
The holiday has become a platform for cultural exchange and acquaintance with tea traditions of different countries. The participants were able to get acquainted with the art of preparing and conducting tea ceremonies in China, Korea, India, Japan, Uzbekistan, and enjoy tasting tea varieties from different parts of the globe.
— People enjoy drinking tea and are interested in tea ceremonies of other nations, — says the dean of the Chinese Energy Institute, Professor Liu Chuang. — I want to thank everyone who is involved in the festival and actively contributes to the popularization of the ancient drink.
The festival included a thematic photo exhibition, a quiz "Unravel the secrets of tea", an exhibition of books about tea and a presentation of traditional tea accessories. The concert program was decorated with performances by the student theater studio "Oltin Meros". A striking epilogue was the performance by the participants of the song "Musical Teahouse" from the repertoire of VIA Yalla, which became a kind of hallmark of the event.
"Tea is of great importance for human civilization," says Professor Yusuf Abdullayev, Rector of SIUT. — Holding such an event is a tribute to the millennial traditions associated with tea, which in many countries is recognized as a drink of high culture, peace and goodness.
The Samarkand Festival is included in the program of cultural and educational events dedicated to the Year of Youth and Business Support announced in Uzbekistan and the "One Belt, One Road" initiative.
Samarkand International University of Technology (SIUT), which is the initiator of the Tea, Culture, Peace! festival in Uzbekistan, was awarded the Brand of the Year 2023 award in the Education category within the framework of the VI International Business forum Makon Marketing Forum.
