Proposals on the branches of food production are considered

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation of proposals aimed at supporting food production industries.

In our country, measures are being taken to ensure the abundance and availability of basic types of food. As a result of the opportunities created for farmers and entrepreneurs, the volume of production of such products is increasing.

In particular, 1.4 thousand livestock projects were implemented in 2022, the number of cattle reached 14 million, sheep and goats - 24 million. The number of poultry farms amounted to 1.3 thousand, egg production increased by 4 percent, meat – by 28 percent. 290 projects have been implemented in the field of fish farming, 502 thousand tons of fish have been harvested. 27 thousand tons of honey were produced.

At the same time, there are a number of problems in these industries related to the shortage of feed, land and working capital. In this regard, the opinions of representatives of the sphere were studied and proposals were developed.

At the meeting, the responsible persons provided information on the measures planned for the current year.

In particular, milk collection points will be created in the regions at the expense of grants from the International Fund for Agricultural Development. Each point will cooperate with at least 100 households that harvest milk.

64 livestock complexes will be built in clusters. Events on labeling and identification of livestock with the involvement of funds from the World Bank will start.

$35 million will be allocated from the Reconstruction and Development Fund to provide poultry farms with feed and working capital. The Parrandasanoat Association will monitor the effectiveness of the use of loans. It is planned to increase the amount of subsidies for the import of breeding chickens.

It is expected that as a result of these measures, poultry meat production will grow to 800 thousand tons per year.

A number of additional opportunities for fish farming are also offered. In particular, from now on, natural reservoirs will be rented out through an online auction. 241 industry projects will be implemented, including industrial shrimp breeding. Within the framework of the state program "Every family is an entrepreneur", it is planned to allocate loans without collateral in the amount of up to 50 million soums for fish farming projects.

It was noted that due to this, 850 thousand tons of fish meat can be harvested this year.

The Head of State stressed that natural reservoirs and rivers should be used, in addition to fishing, as ecotourism centers capable of attracting local and foreign tourists.

The task is to expand the work on pollination of agricultural crops by bees. Measures have been defined to place hives on the edges of 50 thousand hectares of gardens and 200 thousand hectares of fields, create conditions and stimulate the population to engage in beekeeping.

The President has given additional instructions on improving support measures.
