The cultivation of products on the edges of fields will receive support

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has identified priority tasks for expanding the cultivation of products on land areas along the edges of fields.

The corresponding instruction was given at a meeting on agriculture on March 23 of this year. The inventory conducted by the Cadastre Agency after that showed that about 60 thousand hectares of land on the edges of the fields are not fully used. According to calculations, due to the effective use of these lands, an additional 337 thousand tons of products can be obtained.

It was noted that the organization of this work will be handled by the Agency for the Provision of Services in Agriculture. Agronomists will be involved on a seasonal basis to develop the land on the edges of the fields. The research institutes of Vegetable Growing, Melon and Potato growing and Horticulture, Viticulture and Winemaking named after Academician M.Mirzaev will interact with the agency.

100 billion soums will be allocated for seeds, seedlings, fertilizers and water supply for farming on the edges of fields.

The issues of storage and processing of grown products are of great importance. In this regard, it was decided to allocate 50 billion soums for the purchase of drying and refrigeration equipment.

It is indicated that there are opportunities for breeding 600 thousand heads of poultry and placing almost 300 thousand bee hives along channels and drainage networks along the edges of fields.

The current procedure allows farms to lease land plots for a secondary lease only for up to 1 year. Considering that such trees as grapes, mulberries, poplars have been growing for many years, it is proposed to increase the lease term to 10 years.
