On April 12, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a member of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Foreign Minister Qin Gang, who arrived in our country to participate in the next meeting of the foreign ministers of the neighboring countries of Afghanistan.
Topical issues of further deepening of Uzbek-Chinese relations of comprehensive strategic partnership and expansion of multifaceted cooperation were discussed.
First, Foreign Minister Qin Gang conveyed to the head of our state the sincere greetings and best wishes of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
During the meeting, it was emphasized with particular satisfaction that thanks to political will and joint efforts, bilateral relations have reached an unprecedented high level.
In recent years, the trade turnover has doubled, the number of joint ventures and projects has tripled, and $11 billion of Chinese investments have been attracted. After the pandemic, with the restoration of regular flights, contacts between the regions, educational, cultural and humanitarian exchanges intensified.
The leader of Uzbekistan noted the importance of careful preparation for the upcoming state visit to China and the Central Asia–China summit.
There was also an exchange of views on issues of the international and regional agenda.
The importance of the speedy implementation of the Uzbekistan–Kyrgyzstan–China railway construction project, for which technical documentation is currently being prepared, was emphasized.
Particular attention is paid to the need to continue close coordination in the peaceful settlement of the situation in Afghanistan and to provide practical assistance to the socio-economic development of this country.
