The International Congress Center hosted a festive event on the occasion of March 8 - the International Women's Day.
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the event and delivered a congratulatory speech.
– Today, each of us with a feeling of deep gratitude says inspired words to the dear women who are the greatest creation of the Almighty – our caring mothers, dear sisters, dear daughters. For us, first of all, you are the embodiment of selflessness. We consider ourselves deeply indebted to you, your kindness and devotion, love and deep wisdom," the head of state said.
Indeed, women occupy a special place in all spheres of society. Currently, 77% of the employed in the republic are women in the healthcare sector, 74% in the education sector, 46% in the economic and industrial sectors. About 2 thousand women hold senior positions in state and public organizations.
If in 2017 27% of women worked in the field of management, now this figure has reached 33%, in the ranks of political parties their number has increased from 40 to 47%, in entrepreneurship – from 21 to 37%.
For great services to the Motherland and the people, 17 women were awarded the highest state award – the title of Hero of Uzbekistan. Among the women of the country there are 5 academicians, more than 700 doctors of sciences and about 3 thousand candidates of sciences only in higher educational institutions, many women have been awarded honorary titles
In our country, priority is given to improving the living and working conditions of women. For this purpose, more than 872 thousand women were employed last year. More than 25 thousand have been trained in professions and entrepreneurship skills that are in demand on the labor market.
Last year, the living conditions of about 14 thousand women were improved, within the framework of the "Women's Notebook" system, practical assistance was provided to about 642 thousand women.
Touching upon the issue of providing girls with high-quality education, the President quoted the words of the outstanding educator Abdurauf Fitrat - "The merit of mothers in the education of all mankind is priceless."
In recent years, consistent work has been carried out to expand women's access to higher education. If six years ago 110 thousand girls studied at universities, now about 500 thousand are studying.
In accordance with the new procedure, more than 10 thousand girls enrolled in the magistracy, the state paid for training contracts – a total of over 68 billion soums. Interest-free educational loans worth almost 727 billion soums have been allocated to more than 65 thousand female students. About 2 thousand girls from needy families, as well as over 500 women with five years of work experience in their specialty, entered universities on the basis of a separate quota.
– No matter what laws and decisions we adopt in Uzbekistan, no matter what reforms we carry out, as the head of state, I first of all think about you, our kind mothers, caring sisters, about the issues that concern you. I consider it my most important duty and task to serve in order for you to live in peace and prosperity with your family, be healthy and happy, and actively participate in public life. After all, if our respected mothers, women are the support of the family and society, will be satisfied with their lives, then all our people will be satisfied, and the Almighty will bless us," Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted.
According to the decree and decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated March 6 of this year, a group of women were awarded honorary titles, orders and medals, twenty-eight girls were awarded the Zulfiya State Prize.
The solemn presentation of these awards took place at the festive event.
Women from all regions of the country, employees of various ministries and departments who attended the event celebrated the holiday around a generous table.
The event was also attended by female diplomats representing foreign countries and international organizations.
The festive event ended with a colorful concert.
