On June 17, 2021, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev launched the construction of the town of New Andijan on the hilly terrain of the Andijan district. Today, multi-storey houses, schools and kindergartens are being built here.
On February 1, a meeting on expanding the use of renewable energy sources and ensuring employment of the population was held in the town under construction.
With the development of the economy and the growth of the population, the need for electricity increases. Over the past five years, households in our country have increased by 1 million 200 thousand, and the number of enterprises has reached 260 thousand. This increased electricity consumption by 35 percent. In particular, in the Andijan, Ferghana and Namangan regions, the demand for electricity increased by 40 percent.
- In such conditions, the most correct solution is to increase the use of renewable energy sources, - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
In this regard, the meeting focused on the implementation of projects for the construction of solar and wind power plants.
This year, it is planned to build 2 photovoltaic stations with a capacity of 600 megawatts in the Papal and Ferghana districts. It is possible to build 41 microelectric power plants in Andijan, 32 in Namangan and 27 in Ferghana.
The Head of State stressed that it is necessary to use renewable energy sources at large enterprises and generally transfer them to self-sufficiency with electricity.
A separate energy will be created for the introduction of solar energy at social facilities, which will be allocated $ 200 million. The company will install solar panels and water heaters and will sell the generated "green" energy to a budget institution. The need to replace 3 thousand old boilers in social facilities with modern equipment was also noted.
Measures to save energy resources have been identified. The task is to create an attractive system for the use of solar energy for the population.
The second issue on the agenda was poverty reduction and employment provision.
As you know, the necessary conditions are being created in the regions in this direction. In particular, according to the presidential decree signed on January 31, 1.1 trillion soums will be allocated to the Andijan region for preferential loans for family entrepreneurship.
Over the past two years, 8 thousand hectares of fertile land have been allocated to the residents of the region for agriculture, in 2023 another 10 thousand hectares of land will be issued. 36 microcenters are being created in makhallas for the development of industry.
The Head of State stressed that Andijan, which is a land of enterprising and hardworking people, can be turned into a region free from unemployment.
Indeed, this year 235 investment projects worth $ 800 million with the employment of 40 thousand people will be completed in the region. 75 thousand permanent and 200 thousand seasonal jobs will be created on the 10 thousand hectares allocated to the population.
The tasks of vocational training of the unemployed, improvement of the social and business infrastructure of mahallas are also outlined.
Khokims of districts and cities reported on plans to increase employment.
