A new electric train service has been launched in the Fergana Valley, connecting Kokand, Namangan, Andijan, and Margilan.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, together with members of the public, traveled on the first train along the route, from Kokand to Margilan.
The project was implemented in accordance with the Presidential decree “On Measures to Increase Passenger Transportation on Local Railway Routes through 2030,” dated December 27, 2025.
The project aims to improve transport connectivity in the densely populated Fergana Valley by providing citizens with convenient, safe, and affordable services, while increasing passenger traffic volumes.
The 324-kilometer circular railway line brings the regions of the valley closer together, opening up new opportunities for residents, entrepreneurs, and tourists.
The train was manufactured at the Tashkent Plant for the Construction and Repair of Passenger Cars. It consists of six cars, accommodates 586 passengers, and can reach speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour.
Ticket prices are set at 15,000 soums, offering a more affordable and convenient alternative to road transport. With a capacity of up to 1,500 passengers per day and approximately 600,000 per year, the service is expected to boost economic activity in the region.
The cars are equipped with climate control and air-conditioning systems, as well as free Wi-Fi and USB charging ports. Facilities for passengers with disabilities include special lifts, spacious seating, and adapted restrooms. Bicycle racks further expand mobility options beyond the journey.
Onboard video surveillance and impact-resistant safety systems comply with international standards.
During the trip, the President also spoke with regional officials about ongoing developments in the region.
It was noted that the new circular railway line will elevate the tourism potential of the Fergana Valley. The importance of developing service facilities, hotels, and dining establishments near stations was emphasized, which is expected to create additional income opportunities for the local population.
