The online version of the leading Chinese newspaper "People's Daily" published an article titled "Uzbekistan actively promotes gender equality."
According to the publication, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev identified issues of comprehensive protection of women's rights and interests, strengthening their place in society, and ensuring gender equality as one of the priorities of the country's development.
The publication quotes the words of the head of Uzbekistan from his speech on the occasion of International Women's Day: "Women and family issues are a key task that determines our not only today, but also tomorrow. We have set ourselves the most important task of building the foundation of the Third Renaissance in Uzbekistan and in this noble cause we rely primarily on the sacred family values and the high spirituality of our mothers, who educate and instruct us."
The publication emphasizes that in recent years the country has made significant progress in the gender issue. Working conditions, education, and women's health are improving. All these tasks are also included in the Development Strategy of the New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026
The article notes that today almost half of the population of Uzbekistan are women. They work for the benefit of society in various fields. It is noteworthy that 45% of the employed population in the republic are women.
Thanks to the new gender policy of the President of Uzbekistan, more than one and a half thousand women in the republic occupy leadership positions at various levels. Their share in the country's management system is about 30 percent.
In the Government structure of Uzbekistan, issues related to the protection of women's rights and interests are supervised at the level of the Deputy Prime Minister. The Chairman of the newly formed State Committee for Family and Women Affairs is also the Deputy Prime Minister.
At the same time, in the Senate of the Parliament, which is also headed by a woman, there is a special committee on women and gender equality, writes People's Daily.
The publication states that in order to further increase the number of women working in the field of entrepreneurship, the program "Women in Business" will be adopted, within which funds in the amount of 8 trillion soums will be allocated. In 2021, 2 trillion soums of loans and subsidies were allocated for more than 200 thousand projects under women's entrepreneurship programs, 320 thousand women received permanent jobs. 190 thousand women have been trained in professions, more than 4 thousand have been provided with funds for an initial payment for the purchase of housing.
"Since 2020, the women's notebook system has been introduced, about 900 thousand women included in it have been provided with socio-economic, medical, legal and psychological assistance," the newspaper concludes. - Also this year, women will receive 40% subsidies for mortgage loans. This will provide women in need with 12 thousand modern apartments."
