In Beijing, compatriots celebrated the 34th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence

Our country's embassy in Beijing held a cultural event dedicated to the 34th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence, with the participation of compatriots living and studying in China.

The event, organized under the slogan "In the Name of the Motherland, in the Name of the Nation, in the Name of the People!", was attended by students from Chinese universities, compatriots working in China, representatives of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Secretariat in Beijing, Chinese friends, and media representatives.

The event began with the playing of the National Anthem of Uzbekistan.

Atten by the audience, they were briefed on the progress and content of the large-scale reforms implemented in Uzbekistan in various sectors in recent years. They were also introduced to the directions of Uzbekistan's state policy toward youth and compatriots abroad, and encouraged to actively participate in further deepening the reforms being implemented in our country in all areas. It was noted that one of the main tasks of Uzbekistan's diplomatic missions in China is to protect the rights of citizens and provide them with comprehensive assistance.

Speaking to the audience, SCO Deputy Secretary-General Suhail Khan praised the transformations in New Uzbekistan, noting that our country is rapidly developing and, thanks to the attention paid to compatriots abroad, Uzbek youth are achieving great results. He stated that holding such events will unite Uzbeks and strengthen their love for their homeland.

As part of the event, a friendly football tournament was held with the participation of compatriots. The teams that took first, second, and third place were awarded special cups and gifts.

To showcase Uzbek culture and tourism potential, an exhibition featuring photographs of ancient cities and historical monuments of our country, as well as national costumes, was organized. Participants enjoyed Uzbek national cuisine and songs.

The guests were presented with special magazines dedicated to Uzbekistan's trade, economic, investment, cultural, and tourism opportunities. Furthermore, our compatriots received detailed answers to all their questions.

A Dunyo correspondent spoke with some of the event's guests.

Zhang Hongyan, Director of the Silk Road Publishing House:

"I am very pleased to take part in a cultural event organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan. This event is very important for both countries. We are participating in it together with many Uzbek students and our Chinese friends."

During the event, we learned about Uzbek culture, traditional Uzbek cuisine, and national costumes. The event took place in a highly cohesive atmosphere. We experienced true Uzbek hospitality.

I have visited Uzbekistan many times, visiting cities such as Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, Navoi, and Andijan.

I hope that in the future, more Chinese tourists will visit Uzbekistan and have the opportunity to experience your country's rich history and culture. This will create the foundation for a better understanding between our peoples.

Zhang Jiexiong, a student from Beijing, said:

"It was a pleasure to participate in such a wonderful cultural event."

I've heard a lot about your country. Today, I enjoyed national dishes and songs at a friendly evening, and also participated in a football match.

This international, friendly gathering will not only introduce us to Uzbek culture but also serve as a bridge between China and Uzbekistan. I'm happy to interact and exchange ideas with Uzbek youth. I wish the Uzbek youth success in their studies and future endeavors.
