On October 25, a reconstructed 240-kilometer section of the Kungrad-Beyneu highway was put into operation. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the ceremony held on this occasion.
This road is part of the strategic highway linking our country with European countries. However, due to years of operation and the sharply continental climate of the Aral Sea region, it has fallen into disrepair. Therefore, a project worth 323 million dollars on its modern reconstruction has been implemented.
At the ceremony, the head of state emphasized the importance of this road.
– Now the distance of international transportation across the territory of our country will be reduced to 1 thousand kilometers, and transportation costs will be reduced by 25 percent. This road will become part of the logistics network that will reliably connect our country with European markets through the ports of the Caspian and Black Seas. Another important aspect is that on the section of the international corridor “A-380” passing through Uzbekistan, the daily traffic flow will increase three times,” - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The road meets world standards in every respect, providing safe passenger and cargo transportation.
Earlier, other sections of the international highway Guzar - Bukhara - Nukus - Beineu were repaired. On February 29 this year, a new bridge across the Amudarya River connecting Karakalpakstan with Khorezm was opened. Such work creates convenience for the movement of people, increases economic activity and gives an additional impetus to the development of entrepreneurship.
According to estimates, more than 200 trade and service facilities and industrial enterprises will appear along the new road. This will create 2 thousand jobs at first, and 5 thousand more in the future. In this way, a solid basis will be created to increase the volume of transit and other services in Karakalpakstan by 200 million dollars a year, and the volume of exports by at least 300 million dollars.
The lives of more than 1 million residents of Turtkul, Ellikkala, Beruni, Nukus, Khojeyli, Shumanai, Kanlykul, Karauziak and Kungrad districts, through which this highway passes, will be changed.
The President expressed gratitude to the builders and workers involved in the project, the Asian Development Bank, contractors from Turkey, Azerbaijan and China, consultants from South Korea and Italy.
- Building roads and bridges, bringing people together, easing their worries are among the most noble deeds. In the face of road builders, we see such noble, hardworking people who have earned the blessing and gratitude of the people. Let the economic potential of New Uzbekistan grow, let such good deeds that contribute to the welfare of our people multiply,” - noted the Head of our State.
Participants from both ends of this 240-kilometer road - from Kungrad district of Karakalpakstan and Davud-ota customs post on the border with Kazakhstan - joined the event via teleconference. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev welcomed the launch of the road and congratulated his compatriots on this significant event.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of government agencies and the public.
The Head of our State was also presented with a system for monitoring engineering structures. According to it, electronic sensors will be installed at certain points of strategic bridges. With their help, there will be a constant control of strength and quality. If a deviation from the norm is detected, the problem will be promptly identified and eliminated. This will ensure long and high-quality operation of bridges.
The system will also save funds. About 20 types of reporting will be transferred from paper to electronic form. Monitoring data will be stored for up to 30 years. The first such project has been implemented on the new overpass on Babur Street leading to Tashkent International Airport. The ceremony also saw the launch of this transportation interchange.
The total length of the overpass is 702 meters and its width is 46 meters. Two cloverleaf and four arc-shaped exits have also been built, which are effectively connected to the Small Ring Road and Sadyk Talipov Street. This has eliminated the need for U-turns, facilitating car traffic. In general, this transportation junction is capable of passing 5 thousand cars per hour and 132 thousand cars per day.
The President noted the need to introduce this system on 114 overpasses in the capital and then in all regions.
It should be noted that over the last eight years in our country 2 thousand kilometers have been reconstructed and 100 thousand kilometers of roads have been repaired. Most importantly, the quality of work is changing, new types of polymer concrete and cement concrete pavements are widely used. As a result, the service life of roads increases by 1.5 times.
In cooperation with foreign companies, 10 major projects for the construction of another thousand kilometers of roads are planned for next year.
