The Center of Tashkent district acquires a modern look



President Shavkat Mirziyoyev gets acquainted with the development of the Tashkent region, the life of the population and new projects of the region. The Head of State first visited the Tashkent district. There was no center there before.

After new buildings and complexes were developed along Keles Yuli Street, the appearance of the district was completely transformed. In particular, the main street was reconstructed and expanded. The Public Services Centre, the youth centre, the Palace of Culture, the amphitheatre, the universal sports complex, the memorial square and the recreation park were built.

41 multi-storey residential buildings were built on the site of old one-story houses. Now more than 11 thousand people live in 2,536 apartments. 270 shopping, catering, utilities and financial services outlets are being created in the basements and on the first floors of the houses. They will employ 1,350 people, including local youth and women.

The Head of State got acquainted with the creative work.

Particular attention was paid to developing social infrastructure in the framework of the project. 

The central hospital, inter-district perinatal centre, kindergarten, “Inson” social services centre and the district’s history museum were put into operation. The changes are happening not only at the district center. Until recently, drinking water supply here was a problematic issue. At the expense of the Asian Development Bank, 4 reservoirs were built and 365 kilometres of pipes were laid. Over the past three years, 218 kilometres of internal roads have been repaired and asphalted in the area. Work on improving the infrastructure continues.

Reports of responsible persons on the development of entrepreneurship, employment and removal of the population from poverty in Tashkent district were also heard here.

For 6 months of this year, the district’s economy grew by 23 percent. Thanks to the new construction and launch of the enterprise, the tax base has increased.

There are 70 mahallas and 62 thousand families living in Tashkent district. Responsible persons and measures to assist 372 families in difficult situations have been identified.

Within the framework of the planned projects, employment and entrepreneurship programs, it is planned to create more than 34 thousand jobs by the end of the year.

The President gave instructions to realize opportunities in households, encourage entrepreneurs to employ representatives of low-income families.

- Tashkent district is close to our capital. There are huge opportunities in the field of housing, production, trade, services. If the work is properly organised, there can be no poverty in this district. Therefore it’s important to utilize opportunities presented to the economy sector, mahallas, and the move from poverty to revenue, - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev. 

It is expected that by the end of the year the growth rate of industry will be 9 percent, the service sector - 13 percent due to the development of investments of almost $53 million in Tashkent district. The goal is to bring the volume of exports to $100 million dollars.
