Shavkat Mirziyoyev: The strength of our country lies in the unity of the people

Festive celebrations on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the independence of our country were held in the Yangi Uzbekistan Park.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev delivered a speech at the ceremony and congratulated our people on this great holiday.

- In these exciting moments, we are still more deeply aware of the enormous, historical significance of our priceless heritage – national independence. It was thanks to independence that our national statehood was revived. Uzbekistan has entered a new historical era. It is thanks to our independence that we have taken our rightful place in the global community. And we have the right to be proud of it," the head of our state said.

It was noted that in every deed, every achievement, the great power of independence is clearly manifested, our Homeland opens up to the world, and the world opens up to us.

According to the International Monetary Fund, in 2023, the country's gross domestic product exceeded $100 billion for the first time. The World Bank forecasts the country's gross domestic product to grow by 5.3 percent this year.

All reforms are deeply imbued with the noble idea "In the name of human interests and dignity, in the name of the happiness of the people!" Economic successes have allowed increasing pensions and benefits since September this year, and salaries for employees of budgetary organizations, medical workers and teachers since October.

Systematic work yields results in all areas. Young people make a worthy contribution to the development of our country. This was also evident in sports: at the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games in Paris, our compatriots achieved impressive success. These days, one after another, joyful news comes from the Paralympic Games.

The President of our country once again congratulated the athletes and expressed confidence that they will reach even higher levels.

The importance of peace in the current difficult and anxious time was emphasized.

- No matter how difficult life may be, we will consistently continue democratic reforms, mobilizing all our forces and capabilities for the benefit of the people, in the name of strengthening peace and stability in the country. But maintaining peace should not remain just a matter for military personnel. This is a sacred duty for all of us, for every citizen of Uzbekistan. Our main value is peace and stability. The strength of our country lies in the unity of the people," Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed.

The work on the development of the social sphere and the establishment of a quality education system was noted. It was emphasized that the future of our country, the realization of all our noble aspirations depends on the knowledge and potential of young people.

Equal rights for all will be ensured in the economy, and our country will become an integral part of the international trade space. We will rely on entrepreneurs to provide decent jobs for the population.

Uzbekistan is currently among the 40 largest countries in the world in terms of population. It was noted that with our reforms, work, knowledge and talent, we must turn this figure into a powerful potential.

- Given our limited access to the sea, it is necessary to pay more attention to creative areas and consistently develop them. There are many countries in the world that annually receive multibillion-dollar revenues from the export of creative industrial products. Therefore, we will comprehensively encourage entrepreneurs and inventors, especially young ones, who have organized the production of such products," the President said.

Development does not happen by itself, it is achieved by diligence, activity, and cohesion. At the end of his speech, Shavkat Mirziyoyev called on society to live by these ideals.

- Our fast-paced times require us to set higher and higher goals for ourselves. Today, our main task is to ensure that the independent state and free society that we have created with our own strength and potential is even more beautiful and well–maintained. This is a high milestone worthy of tireless work. This is a bright, glorious goal, which is worth dedicating your life to," the head of our state said.

Then a festive concert program took place. The songs vividly reflected the rich art and values of our people, and interethnic harmony was manifested in the performances of folklore groups. The concert was broadcast live on television and on the Internet and gave our compatriots a festive mood.
