SCO Deputy Secretary General Sohail Khan:
- It gives me great pleasure today to participate in the presentation of a book about Samarkand at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Beijing. Here I got a lot of interesting and useful information about this beautiful city.
It should be noted that Samarkand is not only the pride of Uzbekistan, but also of the whole world, including Pakistan. When it comes to historical centers of science, culture and education, many immediately imagine Samarkand.
In 2022 and 2023, the city hosted the SCO Heads of State Summit, the EBRD Summit and other significant events. Having proved that Samarkand still serves as a center for dialogue and discussion of issues on the international agenda, bringing together scientists and politicians from all over the world.
One of the peculiarities of Uzbekistan among the SCO countries is that all the pearls of the Silk Road are located here.
Secretary General of the Beijing International Dialogue Club Han Hua:
- For me, Uzbekistan is a country close to my heart. Last year I visited Tashkent and Samarkand.
I always admire Samarkand, which is a crossroads of different civilizations and a witness to important historical events. Samarkand is not only a historical, but also a modern city. In recent years, modern buildings and structures have been built here. There are huge opportunities for the development of Uzbek-Chinese economic relations.
Today we are also witnessing how cooperation between our countries and regions is developing very dynamically in all areas. Undoubtedly, this will serve for the benefit of our peoples and countries.
