The Presidents expressed satisfaction with the fruitful results of the negotiations



President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko made statements to the media after the talks.

The results of the regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, the Interregional Forum and the meeting of the Business Council held on the eve of the visit were noted with satisfaction. Prior to that, rectors of leading universities and heads of medical institutions met.

The President of Uzbekistan drew the attention of journalists to the qualitative changes in Uzbek-Belarusian cooperation in recent years. The intensification of contacts at all levels, the growth of trade turnover, cooperation projects, the resumption of cultural and humanitarian exchanges, and direct flights were noted.

The leaders reported that extensive negotiations had taken place, a wide range of Uzbek-Belarusian relations had been discussed in detail, priorities and targets for the development of a multifaceted partnership had been identified.

The commitment to deepening dialogue within the framework of regional and international organizations – the United Nations, the CIS, the SCO - was confirmed.

Special attention is paid to the issues of increasing trade turnover. The leaders of the two countries set a task to bring its volume to more than $ 1 billion in the coming years.

To this end, an agreement was reached to create a joint foreign trade company and introduce mechanisms to support trade supplies.

Priority areas of industrial cooperation have been identified. These are the agro-industrial complex, electrical engineering and textile industries, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, urban planning and public utilities.

Special attention was paid to the effective use of the potential and opportunities of interregional contacts.

Active exchanges in the fields of culture and art, higher and professional education, tourism, youth, and sports will continue. Specific areas of cooperation in the field of healthcare have been identified.

The parties agreed to organize regular medical, educational and tourism forums.

They expressed confidence that the agreements reached and the signed documents will contribute to strengthening Uzbek-Belarusian friendship relations and fill the multifaceted partnership with concrete practical content.
