The Uzbek-Chinese business forum was organized by the diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan in China in Guangzhou
The event was attended by Vice-Governor of Guangdong Province Zhang Xin, heads of economic authorities of the region and representatives of over 170 leading companies.
The economic potential of Uzbekistan, the investment climate and opportunities for technological cooperation were widely presented to Chinese businessmen. Special attention was paid to the presentation of promising investment projects in the field of electronics and electrical engineering, textile and leather industries, as well as in the production of building materials, pharmaceuticals and agriculture.
It was noted that today, for the eighth year in a row, Guangdong shows high rates of development with an impressive volume of gross regional product of $ 2.1 trillion and indicators of external trade turnover of $ 1.2 trillion. In this regard, it is important for Uzbekistan with significant investment potential to take advantage of the development of Guangdong in order to actively create advanced joint ventures in popular sectors of the economy and promote new investment projects with an emphasis on technology and innovation.
The Forum has become a platform for in-depth exchange of views, convergence of mutual interests of business circles. Chinese businessmen were called upon to invest in Uzbekistan so that Guangdong and Uzbekistan could write a new chapter in the history of bilateral relations.
During the business forum, the opening ceremony of the Institute for Research and Development of New Technologies in the Field of Biomedicine was held in Tashkent together with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation.
Representatives of industry departments and regional khokimiyats of Uzbekistan held bilateral talks with 60 leading Chinese companies – potential investors.
The business circles of Guangdong Province have shown increased interest in establishing practical cooperation with Uzbek partners, especially in the Syrdarya, Samarkand, Tashkent and Khorezm regions.
