The talks between President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron continued in an expanded format with the participation of official delegations of the two countries.
Opening the meeting, the head of our state expressed gratitude to the President of France for arriving in Uzbekistan at the head of a representative delegation, which included officials, heads of leading companies, well-known figures of culture and science.
"This is a vivid evidence of your personal attention and special attitude to the further development and strengthening of Uzbek-French friendship relations and multifaceted partnership," Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed.
It was noted that thanks to regular meetings at the highest level, Uzbek-French relations have acquired a comprehensive character.
The parties agreed to continue active political contacts, regular dialogue of parliaments, governments, foreign policy and economic departments.
The dynamic growth of trade turnover was noted with satisfaction, which is estimated to reach the level of 1 billion euros in the near future. The portfolio of current
and prospective projects exceeds 10 billion euros.
Such French business leaders as Orano, EDF, Total, SUEZ, Eiffel, Voltalia, Lactalis, Veolia and many others successfully work in our country.
The Head of our state designated the extractive industry, the processing of strategic raw materials, the construction of hybrid, solar and wind power plants, the modernization of water supply systems, the introduction of smart agriculture, the development of urban and transport infrastructure, tourism as priority sectors of cooperation.
To promote the business partnership, the launch of the Uzbek-French Chamber of Commerce and the planned opening of the office of the agency "Business France" in Tashkent were announced.
In order to deepen cooperation in the humanitarian dimension, it was proposed to adopt a three-year program and hold cross-cultural Days within its framework.
The parties welcomed the opening of the French Alliance branch in the city of Samarkand and agreed to accelerate the creation of a joint Uzbek-French university.
It is proposed to develop a program for the development of tourist exchanges with the organization of charter flights from different cities of France to Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva.
The sides also exchanged views on issues on the international agenda, continued cooperation in combating common challenges and threats to security.
At the end of the meeting, the leader of Uzbekistan wished the President of France a successful holding of the Summer Olympic Games in 2024 in Paris.
Following the results, the heads of state instructed to prepare a "roadmap" for the implementation of all agreements reached.
