President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who is in Bishkek on a working visit, took part in the regular meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The summit, chaired by President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, was also attended by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, as well as CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev.
In accordance with the agenda, an exchange of views took place on the state and prospects of multifaceted relations within the CIS, topical issues of practical cooperation were discussed.
In his speech, the head of our state put forward a number of initiatives to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation within the Commonwealth.
The President of Uzbekistan emphasized the importance of using the unique CIS platform for joint assessment of potential opportunities and taking coordinated measures. In this context, it is proposed to organize a conference of leading analytical centers and experts of the CIS countries to develop a new long-term multilateral agenda.
The leader of our country stressed the need to ensure sustainable economic growth in the CIS countries.
Attention is drawn to the importance of the early formation of a full-fledged free trade zone in the Organization's space without exceptions and restrictions. In this regard, it is proposed to revise the provisions of the relevant treaty.
The President of Uzbekistan called for effective use of existing mechanisms and proposed new tools to stimulate the growth of trade turnover between the countries.
The Head of our state called for the development of a set of additional measures to stimulate mutual investments and promote projects, as well as the holding of a Forum of industrial cooperation and innovative developments of the CIS countries.
Particular attention was paid to the issues of partnership in the energy and food sectors, the introduction of advanced technologies and the strengthening of cooperation in the relevant sectors of the economy.
It is proposed to prepare an updated Program of cooperation in the field of food security and an agreement on the main directions of cooperation in the agro-industrial complex.
The leader of Uzbekistan initiated the preparation of a "roadmap" to enhance interregional cooperation, outlined concrete measures to strengthen transport connectivity, increase passenger and freight traffic.
The importance of consolidating efforts in countering the effects of global climate change was emphasized. The readiness was expressed to organize a special plenary session dedicated to environmental challenges and threats in the CIS space during the International Climate Forum planned for next year in Samarkand under the auspices of the United Nations.
In the humanitarian sphere, it is proposed to hold a Week of Culture, art and Cinema of the CIS countries in the city of Samarkand, declared the cultural capital of the Commonwealth in 2024.
Next year, a number of youth events will also take place, including a football tournament in the city of Tashkent, which has received the status of the youth capital of the CIS.
In his speech, the leader of our country also put forward important initiatives in the field of education and the development of tourist exchange.
In conclusion, the President of Uzbekistan congratulated the President of the Russian Federation on assuming the chairmanship of the Organization in 2024.
Following the summit, a number of agreements and decisions were adopted on priority areas of cooperation within the CIS.
