I am often asked: "What exactly does the Youth Union of Uzbekistan do?". Our organization is closely connected with the life of the younger generation: schoolchildren, college and lyceum students, university students, young people working at various enterprises and institutions. We protect their interests, support their dreams and aspirations, and assist in solving problems.
The President, in his congratulation on the occasion of the Youth Day of Uzbekistan on June 30, 2023, noted for a reason: "Over 18 million young men and women aspiring to tomorrow, who today receive knowledge in schools, colleges, technical schools and universities, open their own business and engage in entrepreneurship, honorably fulfill filial duty in the Armed Forces, confidently master key areas - production, construction, science, education, medicine, culture, literature, art, sports, as well as modern information technologies are undoubtedly our priceless wealth, the golden fund of the country."
It should also be noted that over the past period, a completely new vertical management system has been created in working with young people. Youth leaders are active in all mahallas of the country - initiative boys and girls with organizational skills.
Thanks to this system, expanded opportunities have been created for young people in mahallas. A system of "youth notebook" has been established, within the framework of which almost 800 thousand young people have received assistance in the amount of about one trillion soums over the past two years. In particular, 53 thousand students from needy families received tuition on a fee-and-contract basis.
In Namangan region, the total number of young people aged 16 to 30 is almost 639 thousand people, of which 313,738 are girls. Youth leaders of classes and schools, as well as leaders of city and district organizations of SMU and the children's organization "Kamalak" were elected in all 710 secondary schools. In total, we have almost 94 thousand leaders today.
During the first half of the year, more than 500 events were held, in which more than 600 thousand young people took part. Two groups and three Telegram channels have been created for leaders, and online communication with more than 20 thousand young people has been launched by July 1.
The largest projects BEFORE "Kamalak" are "Youth chess board", "Funny and resourceful", "Youth chooses eco-life", "Green space" and "Ecopatrul", intellectual contests "Zakovat", "Zakovat quiz", "Leaders Day", "Discussion", "I am a leader!", Chess Kingdom competitions, "Ramazon tukhfasi", "Summer with Kamalak".
In order to develop the activities of youth leaders, a children's press club, projects "Mehrli uyinchoklar", "Sardorlar Olympiadasi", "Aklli avlod", "Sardorlar forum", "Navoiykhonlik kechasi", "Byte challenge" were organized. More than 50 thousand young people took part in the latter.
Youth leaders of our region took second place at the republican conference under the slogan "For the Motherland, friendship and a happy childhood!", held in May this year in the sanatorium "Lochin" of Kashkadarya region. Youth leaders implemented the traditional project "Summer with Kamalak", aimed at organizing meaningful leisure for schoolchildren: events related to sports, ecology and literature, art, were held in summer camps, schools and mahallas and playgrounds. In 2022, five thousand schoolchildren and young people participated in projects before Kamalak. And this year this figure has reached seven thousand.
Initially, the organizations of the Youth Union of Uzbekistan were established in five state universities. As of today, memoranda have been signed with four non-governmental organizations. SMU operates in 54 of the existing 64 vocational educational institutions. Everyone regularly reports about their promotions on social media pages.
As of July 1 of this year, together with primary organizations, the regional Council of the Youth Union of Uzbekistan implemented 20 projects in educational institutions, organizations and enterprises, in which half a million boys and girls were involved. Two seminars were held to improve the knowledge and skills of 560 youth leaders.
In addition, together with law enforcement agencies, the regional council held events under the mottos "We are against crime and offenses!", "Drug addiction is the plague of the century", "Know your rights!", "Crime and punishment", "Human trafficking is a problem of our time". 48 sports events, 11 visits to military units, eight psychological trainings, 35 round tables were held jointly with executive authorities and commissions on juvenile affairs. 8.7 thousand young people participated in them.
At the show under the motto "Our initiative, our talent, our strength is for the Motherland!" 160 students studying at universities under contract and who have served in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan, who are active members of the Youth Union, were given certificates for 470 million soums by letters of recommendation from the command of military units to pay 35 percent of the contract amount for 2022/2023 academic year.
Within the framework of the youth month, festivals and events were held in all universities, including meetings "Head and youth", "Khokim and graduates", "Meetings of three generations", competitions "Zakovat", "Talent Show", as well as a student book fair and book exhibition. More than five thousand people participated in them.
It is important that all events are widely covered in social networks and the media. The gala concert at the end of the Youth month was especially memorable for its bright moments.
In January-June of this year, primary organizations were formed in 31 military units and institutions of the region. They have held more than 40 events. 22.3 thousand people took part in conversations, meetings, military sports competitions and open days - students, working youth, military personnel.
In order to educate young people in the spirit of patriotism, in-depth study of national culture and traditions, expression of patriotic feelings on the examples of our great ancestors, a number of events, projects and competitions have been organized: "The honorable duty of the youth of Uzbekistan", "A brave soldier is an example for youth", "My army is my pride", "I am the winner", "We honor soldiers' mothers", "My brother is the defender of the Motherland" and others.
1,500 young servicemen competed in the regional stage of the contests "The Best Military Reader", "Navoi and Babur", "Smart Reader", "Military Book", held at the regional information and library center, the Davlatabad Youth Education Center, the Museum of Zulfiya and Hamid Alimjan. The goals are to study and promote the creative heritage of our great scientists, writers and thinkers, further increase the interest of young people in reading and foster love for the best works of Uzbek and world literature.
The competitions "Young Border Guard", "Young Rescuer" and "Shunkorlar" serve to introduce a healthy lifestyle among students of secondary schools, secondary specialized and vocational educational institutions, to introduce them to the profession of a lifeguard, to educate them in the spirit of patriotism, to teach the right actions in case of emergencies. About 25 thousand young people participated in the mahalla, district, city and regional stages of these competitions.
In general, the number of events held by the regional Council of the Youth Union of Uzbekistan together with partner organizations in the first half of 2022 amounted to 45, and this year this figure exceeded 70. At the same time, the coverage of young people has significantly increased.
The most important part of our work was the address of the head of State Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the youth of Uzbekistan during the inauguration ceremony at the joint session of the chambers of the Oliy Majlis on July 14 this year: "I want to address the youth of Uzbekistan once again: my dear sons and daughters, today history itself, time itself opens up unprecedented opportunities for you. Who will defend the interests of the people? Of course you are! Who will build the New Uzbekistan, the Third Renaissance? Of course you are! Who will work selflessly for the welfare and prosperity of the country and the people? Of course you are! Our people, our Motherland believe in you. You are capable of great deeds that will be inscribed in the history of Uzbekistan in golden letters."
This appeal has become the criterion of our work, it inspires millions of young people to achieve high goals.
I would also like to note that according to the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of November 14, 2017, 14 boys and girls of our country are eligible for preferential admission to universities, taking into account their achievements in the Youth Union of Uzbekistan, contribution to the development of the organization, the presence of natural leadership qualities and determination. And one of them is Madina Khabiyalieva, the youth leader of the school No. 20 of the SGM "Toymas" of the Chust district.
Yes, we should be proud of our achievements and work hard on mistakes, correct shortcomings. After all, as our President has repeatedly stressed, the youth will be the builder of the New Uzbekistan!
Azizbek Toshmatov.
Chairman of the Namangan Regional Council
Youth Union of Uzbekistan.
