The President of Uzbekistan stressed the importance of forming a new economic agenda of strategic partnership with the Republic of Korea



On September 7, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation of the Republic of Korea headed by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Finance of this country Chu Kyung Ho.

Issues of further strengthening of Uzbek-South Korean relations of special strategic partnership and expansion of multifaceted cooperation were discussed.

At the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Chu Kyung Ho conveyed to the Head of our state the sincere greetings and best wishes of the President of the Republic of Korea Yun Seok-yong.

During the conversation, the consistent development of bilateral ties, based on deep historical ties of friendship, similar mentality, traditions and values, was noted with particular satisfaction.

The President of Uzbekistan separately dwelled on the issues of forming a new economic agenda for full-scale cooperation with South Korea.

In recent years, the indicators of mutual trade and investment have been steadily growing. Last year, the trade turnover grew by 24 percent. There are about 1 thousand joint ventures operating in our country, the volume of Korean investments has exceeded $ 7 billion.

The long-term fruitful partnership with the Korean Agency for International Cooperation, the Eximbank of Korea and its funds, the total portfolio of projects with which amounts to more than $ 3 billion, was highly appreciated.

Among the successfully implemented joint projects, a children's multidisciplinary clinic, a textile technopark, agricultural machinery and rare metals centers were noted.

Expansion of technological and investment partnership with leading South Korean companies, acceleration of socially significant programs in the field of education and healthcare, promotion of joint projects in the field of infrastructure, "green" energy, public administration, financial sector, digitalization and personnel training are identified as priority areas of practical cooperation.

The broad opportunities for establishing productive contacts between the regions of the two countries and enhancing cultural and humanitarian exchange were emphasized.
