The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan accepted the credentials of newly appointed foreign ambassadors

Today, on August 30, a solemn ceremony of presentation of credentials by newly appointed foreign ambassadors to our country took place.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received credentials from Ambassadors of the People's Republic of China Yu Jun, Malaysia Ilham Tua Bin Illias, Great Britain Timothy Smart, Turkmenistan Shodurda Meredov and the People's Republic of Bangladesh Mohammed Monirul Islam.

The Head of our state sincerely congratulated the newly appointed heads of foreign diplomatic missions on the official start of their activities
in Uzbekistan.

The symbolism of the solemn ceremony in the days of the broad celebration of the 32nd anniversary of state independence by the multinational people of Uzbekistan was noted.

It was emphasized that this year, in accordance with universally recognized democratic norms, important political events were successfully held in the country – a referendum on the adoption of an updated Constitution and presidential elections. Their results have consolidated the irreversible course of the ongoing reforms, which are also reflected in the Development Strategy "Uzbekistan – 2030".

The leader of Uzbekistan emphasized that in conditions of increasing geopolitical tension in the world, weakening mutual trust, when new hotbeds of conflict arise in different regions, threats to security and sustainable development increase, Uzbekistan actively pursues an open and pragmatic foreign policy.

Relations with all countries of the world based on mutual respect and practical cooperation are developing systematically. Multilateral partnership with the United Nations, other authoritative international organizations and regional structures is being strengthened.

This year, our country will host the summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization, the International Conference on Food Security under the auspices of the United Nations, as well as the anniversary session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization.

The Head of State drew attention to a number of important issues of bringing relations with the countries represented by the newly appointed ambassadors to a completely new qualitative and meaningful level.

Addressing the newly appointed Ambassador of China, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan stressed that Beijing is one of our reliable and time-tested friends, relations with which have reached the level of comprehensive strategic partnership in recent years.

"The historic state visit of the President of the People's Republic of China, Mr. Xi Jinping, to our country a year ago, as well as our productive meeting within the framework of the Central Asia–China summit, held in Xi'an in May this year, gave a powerful impetus to the development of bilateral relations," the leader of Uzbekistan stressed.

As part of the implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level, special attention is paid to increasing the volume of mutual trade, expanding partnerships with leading Chinese companies in the field of high technologies and innovations, implementing projects and joint programs in the fields of "green" economy, digitalization, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, advanced industry and infrastructure, "smart" agriculture, medicine and pharmaceuticals, acceleration of scientific, educational and cultural exchanges.

A summit meeting is planned within the framework of the international forum "One Belt, One Road", which will be held in China in October.

Malaysia is an important partner of Uzbekistan in the Southeast Asia region.

– Our relations are consistently developing on the basis of the principles of mutual respect and traditional friendship. The views and approaches of our states on topical global and regional issues are similar or close," the President of Uzbekistan said.

Support was expressed for the further development of cooperation in the field of electronics and electrical engineering, information technology, food industry, tourism, education and other areas, as well as the expansion of partnerships with leading Malaysian companies, especially in the field of petrochemicals.

The Malaysian University "Binari" successfully operates in the cities of Tashkent and Urgench.

Active exchanges of visits also create a good basis for high-level meetings.

Great Britain, a country with high political, economic and intellectual potential in the world, is a long–term and important partner of Uzbekistan.

In recent years, broad ties between the countries, based on the principles of friendship and mutual respect, have been steadily developing and are filled with new projects and specific programs.

The partnership between parliaments, judicial bodies, ministries of Justice, Education and Finance is expanding.

Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom have established close cooperation within the framework of the United Nations and other authoritative international structures.

In the economic direction, the volumes of mutual trade are growing at a high rate.

The Head of Uzbekistan expressed interest in making full use of the huge untapped potential in the field of investment and innovation, and also proposed the implementation of new joint projects in banking and finance, digital economy, green energy, geology, chemistry and other priority areas.

Turkmenistan is our closest neighbor, with whom we have lived side by side for many centuries, have a common language, religion and customs.

It was noted with satisfaction that relations between our countries have reached a new level in recent years in all areas – in politics, inter-parliamentary relations, trade and economy, transport, energy, water and agriculture, as well as cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The recent visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Ashgabat, fruitful negotiations with the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov served to further deepen the strategic partnership.

"We have a huge potential to expand trade ties, strengthen cooperation in the economic sphere and implement specific projects, as well as to increase transportation and transit of goods," the leader of Uzbekistan noted.

The intention was expressed to continue close multilateral contacts, in particular, close dialogue and the practice of mutual support within the framework of the United Nations and other leading international and regional organizations.

The People's Republic of Bangladesh is a fast–growing country in South Asia and throughout the Muslim world, with which mutual contacts have intensified.

"Roadmaps" on political, trade and economic directions have been adopted. Prospects for expanding partnership in the textile, agricultural, pharmaceutical, tourism industries, as well as in the implementation of new investment projects and joint programs are outlined.

At the end of the ceremony, the President of Uzbekistan wished the ambassadors great success in their responsible and honorable mission, urging them to work harder and travel to the regions more often in order to bring relations between our countries and peoples to a higher level.

The diplomats expressed gratitude for the warm welcome, the conditions created for their fruitful activities and assured that they would make all their knowledge and efforts for the further development of bilateral ties.
