The aboveground and underground metro lines are connected in a ring

The role of the metro in the public transport of the capital is very great. In order to expand the coverage of this type of transport, an elevated metro was created on the initiative of the head of our state.

In recent years, the first stage of this major project has been implemented and the Sergeli Line has been opened. This year, the second stage has been completed - an aboveground line has been built from the Kuylyuk massif to the Sergeli district.

Today, the President visited the new line and took a ride on the subway with members of the public.

- When we started this project in 2017, there were those who did not believe in its success. So, thank the Almighty, the underground and aboveground metro connected and formed a ring. Yes, it wasn't easy. But this is the way that will serve our people, will remain in history. If our people, our children, using this way, will be satisfied with the state, then we have achieved our goal," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

At the second stage, 12 kilometers of overpasses were laid and 7 stations were built. The travel time from the beginning to the end of the line will be 15 minutes. More than 40 thousand passengers will be served daily.

In general, the length of the Tashkent metro has exceeded 70 kilometers. Of these, 38 kilometers were built after 1977, and 32 kilometers of tracks have been laid over the past 7 years. The number of stations has reached 50. It is expected that the daily passenger traffic in the metro will increase to 750 thousand people.

In addition, this year the capital received a thousand new buses. As a result, up to 1.4 million passengers a day use public transport. All this serves as an important factor in reducing the need for movement by private transport and reducing congestion on the streets.
