On August 25, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on National Security and Government Affairs Gary Peters.
The issues of further strengthening of the Uzbek-American relations of strategic partnership and expansion of practical cooperation, primarily within the framework of the dialogue of the parliaments of the two countries, were considered.
The intensification of mutual contacts and exchanges was noted with satisfaction. The indicators of bilateral trade are growing, the number of successful examples of cooperation with leading American companies is increasing. Important humanitarian programs are being implemented.
Special attention is paid to the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation in order to promote joint projects in priority areas.
The sides exchanged views on the regional agenda, including on the preparation of the upcoming first summit in the C5+1 format, held on the initiative of the US President on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly events in New York City.
