The President of Uzbekistan called for the further development of a full-scale partnership with the World Tourism Organization

On July 12, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Zurab Pololikashvili, who is in our country on a working visit.

The issues of further promotion of full-scale cooperation with the leading industry organization of the UN system on the development of modern tourist infrastructure and popularization of tourist destinations in Uzbekistan were discussed.

At the beginning of the conversation, the Secretary-General, on behalf of the structures and institutions of the United Nations system, warmly congratulated the head of our state on his convincing victory in the last presidential election, sincerely wishing prosperity and great success.

Special attention was paid to the preparation and holding of the main international event of the tourism industry this year - the 25th anniversary session of the UNWTO General Assembly in Samarkand in October.

The importance of expanding practical cooperation in attracting leading investors – well-known foreign companies and brands to the implementation of projects to create a modern and comfortable tourist infrastructure in Uzbekistan was noted.

In addition, a set of joint activities will be carried out in the field of promoting the international image, in the field of education and training of highly qualified specialists, including the creation of an International Academy and a thematic office of the UNWTO in our country.
