The leaders of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan discussed topical issues of the bilateral agenda

On May 18, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon as part of the program of the summit of Central Asian countries and China, held in Xi'an.

Topical issues of further development of multifaceted cooperation and deepening of Uzbek-Tajik relations of strategic partnership and alliance were considered.

The leaders highly appreciated the fruitful results of the next meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, held on May 12 in Tashkent.

The importance of practical implementation of the decisions taken to increase the volume of mutual trade and promote industrial cooperation projects, including
in the energy, machine-building, agricultural, transport, communication and other sectors, was noted.

The heads of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan also exchanged views on topical issues of the regional agenda, reviewed the schedule of upcoming events.
