President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon on May 5.
The Leader of Tajikistan warmly congratulated the head of our state on the successful holding of a national referendum on amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
During the conversation, special attention was paid to the practical implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level.
The progressive strengthening of the Uzbek-Tajik relations of strategic partnership and alliance, as well as the growing dynamics of trade and economic cooperation were noted with particular satisfaction.
The volume of mutual trade, the number of joint projects and enterprises are increasing. A border trade and logistics zone is under construction. Active cultural and humanitarian exchanges continue - in March, the first Forum of Rectors of leading universities of the two countries was held fruitfully in the city of Dushanbe.
The Presidents of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan noted the importance of careful preparation of the agenda of the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and the second Forum of Regions in order to accelerate ongoing cooperation projects and develop new areas of practical interaction.
The sides exchanged views on regional cooperation, including in the context of preparations for the upcoming fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States.
