Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the People's Republic of China

Political Relations


January 2 marked the 32nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the People's Republic of China. Friendly relations between our two countries are developing dynamically, based on mutual respect and consideration of each other's interests. Relations between our countries have evolved to a comprehensive strategic partnership in a new era, which entered into force in 2022.

Since 1991, 23 summits of the leaders of the two countries have been held. Chinese President Jiang Zemin visited Uzbekistan in 1996, President Hu Jintao in 2004 and 2010, and President Xi Jinping in 2013, 2016 and 2022.

In turn, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh.Mirziyoyev visited China on a state visit in 2017, took part in the second International Forum "One Belt, One Road" in Beijing in 2019, in the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing in 2022, in the High-level Dialogue on Global Development in the BRICS Plus format in 2022, visited China on a state visit and to participate in the first Central Asia-China Summit in May 2023, and on a working visit to participate in the third International BRI Forum in October 2023 and with a state visit in January 2024..

The parties maintained active contacts at the government level. So, on October 8-9, 2023. Prime Minister A. Aripov visited China to participate in the closing ceremony of the XIX Asian Games and held talks with Premier of the State Council Li Qiang. In Urumqi, a meeting was held with Secretary of the XUAR Party Committee Ma Xinzhui.

April 17-21, 2023 Deputy Prime Minister J. Kuchkarov visited China to share experiences and strengthen cooperation in the field of poverty reduction and agricultural development. A meeting was held with Deputy Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Liu Guozhong. On May 29, 2023, Deputy Prime Minister J. Kuchkarov took part in the work of the SCO Member States Forum on poverty reduction and ensuring a decent life for people in Yanlin.

As part of the implementation of the agreements at the highest level, the first strategic dialogue of foreign ministers was held in Beijing on November 21, 2023. The next one is scheduled for 2025 in Tashkent.
