Taking into account the interests of the people

The regular session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis devoted to the consideration of the issue of holding a referendum on the draft Constitutional Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan" continued its work. 

The second day of the meeting was attended by citizens who put forward the most relevant proposals in the process of drafting the Constitutional Law.
During the detailed consideration of the bill on the first day of the meeting, deputies put forward a number of proposals for further improvement of the document. The responsible committees, having carefully analyzed each proposal, reflected most of them in the text of the draft.
The transitional provisions of the draft Constitutional Law were discussed article by article at the meeting. These provisions define in detail the terms and procedure for the entry into force of amendments and additions to the Constitution.
It was noted that the norms of the draft Constitutional Law were improved and finalized on the basis of the proposals made at the meeting. Gratitude was expressed to the members of the Constitutional Commission and deputies who actively participated in this process.
The speakers at the meeting stressed that based on the opinions of our citizens and with their support, the constitutional reform will be implemented through a referendum. The adoption of the Constitution will be an expression of the will of the people. 
The deputies also supported the issue of setting the date of the referendum on the draft Constitutional Law on April 30, 2023 and obtaining the opinion of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the decision of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis on holding a referendum. 
It was noted that the updated Constitution will create the foundations of social, democratic-legal and truly people's statehood, increase the welfare of the population, further strengthen human rights and interests, honor and dignity, become an important factor in the liberalization of all spheres of life, and also open a new period in the development of the new Uzbekistan. 
Following the meeting, the deputies adopted a resolution "On holding a referendum of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the draft Constitutional Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan".
At the meeting of the Legislative Chamber, gratitude was expressed to the citizens who made the most relevant and significant proposals during the development of the Constitutional Law.
