The leaders of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan stressed the importance of increasing practical cooperation

Upon arrival in Baku, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

The leader of Azerbaijan sincerely thanked the head of our state for his support and personal participation in the summit of the Non-Aligned Movement, which will be held tomorrow, March 2, in the capital of the country.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in turn, highlighted the effective chairmanship of Azerbaijan in this structure.

The Presidents reviewed in detail the implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level. It was noted with deep satisfaction that thanks to systematic and productive contacts, the Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations of strategic partnership have reached a qualitatively new level, filled with concrete content.

Last year, the trade turnover between the two countries increased by more than 50 percent. The implementation of cooperation projects in such priority areas as the automotive industry, textile industry and sericulture is in an active phase. Promising projects in the oil and gas sector, transport and logistics are being prepared.

Within the framework of the first Forum of Regions held in Tashkent in February this year, an agreement on the creation of a joint investment fund was signed.

The interest in the exchange of experience on the development of free economic zones and the tax administration system was noted.

The importance of further expansion of cultural and humanitarian exchanges was emphasized.

The Heads of State discussed topical international and regional issues, reviewed the schedule of upcoming events.

The meeting was held in a traditionally open, warm and friendly atmosphere.
