
On March 20, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
At the beginning of the conversation, the leaders exchanged warm congratulations on the occasion of Ramadan Hayit and the spring holiday of Navruz, wishing peace, well-being, and continued prosperity to the fraternal peoples of the two countries.
The President of Uzbekistan also conveyed warm congratulations to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
The leaders noted with satisfaction the active development of Uzbek-Turkmen relations of friendship, good-neighborliness, and strategic partnership.
Productive contacts at all levels continue. Trade turnover is steadily increasing, including through the supply of finished goods. The effective operation of the recently launched Shavat-Dashoguz trade zone is also contributing to the growth of mutual trade.
Freight traffic, including through the port of Turkmenbashi, continues to grow steadily. Cooperation is expanding in energy, industry, water management, and transport. Particular attention was paid to expanding interparliamentary, interregional, business, and cultural-humanitarian exchanges.
The parties exchanged views on the evolving situation in the Middle East and South Asia. It was emphasized that lasting peace can only be achieved through political and diplomatic measures.
The schedule of bilateral and multilateral events for this year was also discussed.
