At the initiative of the Embassy of Uzbekistan, a round table was held at the Institute for Research on Social Development of Eurasia at the Center for Social Development of the State Council of the People's Republic of China (ISREA) dedicated to the upcoming elections of deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and regional, city and district councils of our country on October 27.
The event was attended by experts from China's leading think tanks, including the Chinese Academy of International Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China.
In his speech, Mirzatilla Tillabayev, First Deputy Director of the National Center for Human Rights of Uzbekistan, familiarized the participants of the round table with new regulatory and other aspects of the upcoming parliamentary elections in the context of large-scale reforms under the leadership of the Head of our State within the framework of the Development Strategy of the New Uzbekistan.
At the beginning of his speech, ISREA Director Li Yunquan noted that Uzbekistan is a unique country that has a centuries–old history of statehood, rich culture and a huge civilizational heritage. "Today, Uzbekistan is a dynamically developing country, confidently moving along its own path of development within the framework of the Strategy of the New Uzbekistan put forward by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev," the director noted.
According to him, the upcoming parliamentary elections in Uzbekistan will be the most important event in the domestic political life of the country in 2024. They are extremely important for the future prospects of the strategic development of the country, which harmoniously implements large-scale economic and political reforms.
ISREA Deputy Director Xu Tao stressed that the current elections are held on the basis of the new Constitution of the country. According to the Chinese expert, this electoral process is taking place according to a completely new model – a mixed one, in which special attention is paid to increasing the role of women in the political life of the country by increasing the proportion of women to over 40%.
During the event, the leading expert of the Chinese Academy of International Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, Chen Yuzhong, also highly appreciated the active dynamics of the development of bilateral relations and multifaceted cooperation between our countries. She emphasized the historical nature of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's state visit to China in January 2024, following which the leaders of the two states raised the level of relations to an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership in a new era.
