President: ‘Turkmenistan is a reliable and key partner for us in the region’

The Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting in a narrow format at the Kuksaroy Residence.

By cordially welcoming the distinguished guest, the Leader of Uzbekistan expressed confidence that the current meeting would open a new chapter in the history of the Uzbek -Turkmen relations of strategic partnership.

«They are based on traditionally strong ties of friendship, good neighborliness, trust and mutual support», the President of Uzbekistan has said.

The President has once again congratulated the President of Turkmenistan on his convincing victory in the presidential elections in March this year.

«The wise Turkmen people have entrusted their future in you, fully supporting the continuation of the course of large-scale reforms in the country. There is no doubt that your knowledge and experience, energy and leadership will allow you to implement all the plans», Shavkat Mirziyoyev has underscored.

The President of Uzbekistan has also noted the invaluable contribution of the Chairman of Khalq Maslakhaty of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in achieving the highest level of the Uzbek – Turkmen relations and strengthening good neighborliness in the Central Asian region.

The President of Uzbekistan has noted with satisfaction the positive dynamics in the entire spectrum of bilateral cooperation achieved through the joint efforts in recent years.

«I want to emphasize that Turkmenistan is a reliable and key partner for us in the region. We are committed to the further development of full-scale cooperation, we intend to strengthen the strategic partnership relations with our closest neighbor in every possible way», Shavkat Mirziyoyev has noted.

Having expressed a gratitude for the hospitality and warm welcome, the President of Turkmenistan conveyed the warm words of greetings from the Chairman of the Khalq Maslakhaty of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan.

«Along with Gurbanguly Myalikguliyevich you have consistently built and strengthened the foundations of bilateral relations, created a solid political and legal basis for cooperation. Our current state visit is intended to give a new impetus to the strategic partnership, as well as I am confident that we will be able to achieve the set goals», Serdar Berdimuhamedov has said.

During the meeting, the Presidents discussed the prospects for the Uzbek -Turkmen cooperation, paying a special attention to the development of trade and economic ties, increasing mutual trade, implementing industrial cooperation projects, as well as using transport and transit opportunities.

The sides noted the huge potential in establishing the interregional cooperation.

An exchange of views has also taken place on the regional and international agenda. The importance of strengthening the atmosphere of trust, good neighborliness and partnership that has developed in Central Asia, was emphasized.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov invited the President of Uzbekistan to pay a reciprocal visit to Turkmenistan at any time of convenience to him.
