On May 13-14 this year, the Asian Women's Forum will be held in the city of Samarkand on the theme "A regional approach to women's economic, social and political rights and empowerment".
The initiative to hold this forum was put forward by the President of our country at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in order to realize the creative potential of women leaders of the countries of the region, exchange experience on further expanding their participation in government and society, in the economy.
It is expected that the forum will be attended by women parliamentarians from East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia and Central Asia, heads of government, representatives of government agencies and civil society institutions, businesswomen, political scientists, social activists, scientists, representatives of economic sectors and various spheres.
The Forum will be held in 10 parallel sessions. The participants will discuss the issues of women's participation in science, education and innovation, as well as the use of digital technologies, poverty reduction through the economic empowerment of women, their involvement in entrepreneurship and innovation, and ensuring their leadership in the modern global economy.
In addition, the issue of women's participation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals will be considered. Special attention will be paid to the issues of women's economic empowerment, the role of parliaments in stimulating their participation in business and society, gender-oriented budgeting, eliminating gender differences in the use of financial opportunities, and eliminating all forms of violence against women and children.
The participants will discuss the best practices and innovative approaches of non-governmental non-profit organizations to promote the "green" economy, the impact of climate change on gender issues in the region, as well as the protection of women's rights and interests.
According to the results of the forum, it is planned to adopt the Samarkand Declaration.
