On May 1-7, the International Folklore Festival "Boysun baori" ("Spring of Baysun") will be held in the ancient and unique land of Surkhandarya.
Preparations for the festival, which will bring together speakers, performers and masters of folklore and ethnographic art from all over the world, are being carried out in a completely new spirit. In the modern tourist complex in the Bibishirin mahalla, where its main events will be held, all conditions are created for performances by folklore and ethnographic groups, national sports games and other diverse performances.
– Our country has been famous for its unique national art, values and traditions since ancient times, – says Deputy khokim of Surkhandarya region, head of the regional tourism department Jurabek Turaev. – All the necessary conditions and a favorable environment have been created for the further popularization of the samples of creativity and art that our people have kept for centuries, and the acquaintance of the peoples of the world with them. So, we plan to hold an international festival on May 1-7 in the heart of the mountains to make it more attractive, share the festive mood with local residents and foreign guests, as well as increase the tourist potential of the oasis. We will try to familiarize everyone with the rich program of folklore and ethnographic collectives, national sports games and other diverse performances, as well as widely cover the performances of domestic and foreign performers who will take part in the festival's competition, and in general hold such a grandiose event at a high artistic level.
On the first day of the festival, an international scientific and practical conference will be held in the city of Termez. The program of the folklore art festival will also include an exhibition of national dishes and handicrafts, concert programs of regional folklore groups, balloon launches, and drone shows. Special attention will be paid to the performances of folklorists of our capital.
It is planned to hold a bike marathon along the roads of the Khojamaykhana shrine in the mountainous region, organize trips to tourist sites such as the Omonkhona healing spring, the shrines of Khoja Sultan Wali, Kamari Aziz, Khojakuchkar-ata, Zovboshi recreation areas, Kyzyl Canyon, archaeological and historical monuments of the region. Kites will also be launched, tug-of-war competitions, kurash, ulak-kupkari and others will be organized.
At the moment, well-known folklore ensembles from such countries as Great Britain, Belgium, Israel, Russia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Romania, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates and India have expressed their desire to participate in the international competition. Applications continue to be received.
