The Presidents visited the sights of the city of Khiva

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, accompanied by the Head of our State Shavkat Mirziyoyev, visited historical monuments in the Ichan-kala complex and Nurullabay Palace in the ancient city of Khiva.

Ichan-kala, which is called the "open-air museum", is the only preserved monument city in Central Asia. There are more than 120 architectural monuments located here.

In 1990, the city of Khiva was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, and in 1997 celebrated its 2,500th anniversary. In 2020, the city was declared the cultural capital of the Turkic world, and in 2024 – the tourist capital of the Islamic world.

Nurullabay Palace was built at the beginning of the XX century. The complex includes madrasahs, more than 100 rooms, galleries. Not only the leading Khiva craftsmen participated in the creation of the palace apartments, but also foreign decorative artists who introduced elements of the European Art Nouveau style into the decoration. The main halls are decorated with fireplaces, Venetian mirrors and bronze gilded chandeliers with crystal pendants.

The stories about the history of Khiva and its contribution to the development of science, as well as the rich culture and art of the region made a great impression on the Kazakh guests.
