The President of Uzbekistan noted the importance of increasing international cooperation in combating desertification

On December 1, on the sidelines of the Climate Change Summit, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, Executive Secretary of the Convention to Combat Desertification Ibrahim Tiau.

The fruitful results of the 21st session of the Committee for the Implementation of the United Nations Convention on Desertification, held in Samarkand last month with the participation of delegations from more than 130 countries, as well as heads of reputable international organizations, were noted with deep satisfaction.

The importance of joint promotion of the issue of the adoption of the Samarkand Declaration on Dust and Sand Storms during the convention conference in Saudi Arabia in December 2024 was noted.

The possibilities of scientific cooperation and research on the basis of the Central Asian University of Climate Change in Tashkent are considered.
