On November 27, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the launch ceremony of projects to connect a modern combined-cycle power plant with a capacity of 1,500 megawatts to the electricity supply network in the Syrdarya region and the start of construction of a pilot production of "green hydrogen" in the Tashkent region, implemented jointly with the leading Saudi company ACWA Power.
It should be noted that the project of a thermal power plant in the Syr Darya with a total cost of $ 1.1 billion will cover the electricity needs of over 3 million households and hundreds of industrial enterprises.
In addition, for the first time in the region, a unique enterprise for the production of "green hydrogen" is being created. As part of this "pilot" project, 3 thousand tons of hydrogen will be produced in our country at the first stage with subsequent processing into mineral fertilizers, and a 52 megawatt wind farm will also be created.
In general, with the participation of ACWA Power, large energy projects worth 7.5 billion dollars are being successfully implemented in Uzbekistan.
The launch of these projects will contribute to the creation of 25 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2030, which will save 4.5 billion cubic meters of gas and reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere to 3 million tons.
