On November 24, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev as part of the program of events of his working visit to Baku.
The Azerbaijani leader sincerely thanked the President of Uzbekistan for his support and personal participation in the first summit of the UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA).
The Head of our state, in turn, congratulated the President of Azerbaijan on the successful chairmanship in SPECA.
Issues of further strengthening of Uzbek-Azerbaijani friendship relations and strategic partnership were discussed, including the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level.
It was noted with satisfaction that thanks to systematic and productive contacts, Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations have reached a qualitatively new level, filled with concrete content.
Since the beginning of the year, the trade turnover has grown by 34 percent. Cooperation projects are being implemented in the automotive, electrical, textile, energy industries, agriculture and sericulture. Promising projects in the field of transport and logistics are being prepared.
The two leaders also exchanged views on new areas of mutually beneficial cooperation. The issues of promoting promising projects in the chemical, energy, jewelry industries, mechanical engineering, construction industry and other areas were discussed.
The importance of further expansion of cultural and humanitarian exchange was emphasized.
At the end of the meeting, the head of our state invited the President of Azerbaijan to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan at a convenient time for him.
