President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron visited the branch of the French Alliance in the city of Samarkand.
The French Alliance, a non-governmental non-profit organization promoting the spread of the French language and culture, was established in Paris in 1883 on the initiative of such prominent people as Jules Verne and Louis Pasteur. To date, there are more than 800 French alliances in 137 countries around the world.
The first branch of the alliance in our country was opened in Tashkent in 2015. In order to further develop bilateral cooperation in the field of cultural and language exchange, a second branch was organized in Samarkand.
During the visit of the head of state, the ribbon was solemnly cut and the center was opened.
The Presidents got acquainted with the capabilities of the modernly equipped center, which will organize French language and literature courses and is able to receive up to 200 people who want to join the culture of France.
They expressed confidence that the alliance's activities in Samarkand will contribute to further rapprochement and strengthening the friendship of our peoples.
