The presentation of the Development Strategy of the New Uzbekistan took place in Beijing



А presentation of the Development Strategy of the New Uzbekistan was held at the headquarters of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Beijing.

The event was organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan jointly with the SCO Secretariat, the Development Strategy Center and the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies

It was attended by the leadership of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, permanent representatives of the SCO member states, representatives of the diplomatic corps, socio-political, expert-analytical, business circles and the media of China.

The participants were informed about the main goals and objectives of the New Uzbekistan Development Strategy. The book "Strategy of Development of New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026", published on the initiative of the Embassy in Chinese, was presented to the audience.

In his speech, SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming praised "Uzbekistan's important contribution to ensuring sustainable development, peace and stability in the Shanghai Organization region."

"In recent years, large-scale reforms have been carried out in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
In the foreign policy sphere, Uzbekistan consistently strengthens good-neighborly and friendly relations. This made it possible to intensify mutually beneficial international cooperation of Uzbekistan, including
within the framework of the SCO," Zhang Ming stressed.

He noted that the goals and objectives of the Development Strategy of the New Uzbekistan reflect the dynamic aspirations of the country to further deepen the reform processes, accelerate development and unlock new opportunities to achieve even higher milestones.

Referring to Uzbekistan's chairmanship in the SCO, the Secretary General stressed that the agenda of Uzbekistan's chairmanship is very extensive. The active efforts of the Uzbek side and the resolute support of the member states are forming the necessary prerequisites for the successful holding of the SCO Samarkand Summit. Undoubtedly, the summit will open a new milestone in the development of the Organization."

According to Sun Chuangzhi, director of the Institute of Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, "the new Development Strategy adopted in Uzbekistan fully corresponds to the national priorities of the country. The expert stressed that the Strategy embodies the foreign policy desire to preserve a multilateral and balanced foreign policy, create the widest external space for the development of Uzbekistan, actively develop equal and mutually beneficial cooperation with foreign partners, in particular with the People's Republic of China. He emphasized that Uzbekistan, under the leadership of the head of the country, will be able to achieve all the goals and objectives of the Strategy.

Director of the Eurasian Studies Department of the Chinese Academy of Modern International Relations (CASMO) Ding Xiaoxing: "During the round table, we were able to discuss the reforms of the New Uzbekistan, Uzbek-Chinese relations and the chairmanship of the republic in the SCO."

"In 2016, I participated in the Presidential elections in Uzbekistan as an international observer, and in this short period your country has achieved significant success. I am sure that the Development Strategy for 2022-2026 sets ambitious goals
and plans for the country, most importantly, it also contains tasks to achieve these goals," said Ding Xiaoxing.

According to the head of the CASMO department, the SCO and the Shanghai Spirit play an important role in the development and maintenance of stability in the region. Uzbekistan, as the chairman of the organization, holds many events in order to promote cooperation within the SCO,
from which all member countries benefit.

In turn, Director of the Institute for Social Development of Europe and Asia at the State Council of China Li Yongquan commented on Uzbekistan's foreign policy achievements. "The new Development Strategy of Uzbekistan will become the driving force of Uzbekistan's active foreign policy," he said.

 It is gratifying that in the Development Strategy of the New Uzbekistan, a strong social policy remains the most important priority, which allows ensuring social welfare and the progressive development of the economy of Uzbekistan," said Su Chan, a leading expert of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. According to her, "over the past five years, Uzbekistan's economic reforms have achieved obvious and real results and Uzbekistan has now become a country with a stable level of development in the region."

Speakers from the Uzbek side – Executive Director of the Development Strategy Center of Uzbekistan Eldor Tulyakov and Rector of Tashkent State University Gulchehra Rikhsieva familiarized the participants in detail with the main directions and targets of the Development Strategy of the New Uzbekistan, the measures envisaged for their practical implementation.

Chinese experts drew attention to the achievements over 5 years
Uzbekistan has made progress in development in almost all spheres of society, including education, health, employment, social security, poverty reduction, youth and women's development.

At the same time, the speakers gave a positive assessment of Uzbekistan's constructive and open foreign policy, Tashkent's efforts to further develop broad international cooperation, including within the framework of the UN, SCO and other organizations. It was emphasized
that the New Uzbekistan is an initiative and active participant in modern international processes.

Experts believe that the priorities outlined in the Strategy of the New Uzbekistan are fully in tune with the directions of cooperation within the SCO in the context of the implementation of the key goals
and objectives defined in the SCO Charter in the political, trade, economic, investment, transport, communication, cultural and humanitarian fields.

During the event, the dynamism and high efficiency of multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan were separately noted
and China. According to the unanimous opinion of the participants, Uzbek-Chinese relations have risen to a qualitatively new level in recent years and further deepening of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and China equally meets the long-term interests of the parties.
