On September 29, as part of the program of a working visit to Germany, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in a meeting of the heads of Central Asian states with Federal President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
The event was also attended by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The issues of strengthening constructive political dialogue, expanding trade and economic, transport and communication, cultural and humanitarian cooperation were discussed at the meeting.
The sides also exchanged views on topical aspects of ensuring regional security and sustainable development, including within the framework of European Union programs.
During his speech, the Head of our state separately focused on the prospects of cooperation in the format of "Central Asian countries – Germany". Particular attention is paid to priority areas of practical partnership, primarily in the field of high technologies and innovative development, transport communications, green energy, vocational education, active cultural and academic exchanges.
The expansion of the presence of leading German companies and banks in Uzbekistan was noted with deep satisfaction. The growing interest of our youth in the study of the German language is stated – today it is studied by almost 300 thousand schoolchildren and students.
During the conversation, the Federal President of Germany congratulated the leader of Uzbekistan on the successful holding of a unique exhibition of cultural and historical heritage at the world-famous James Simon Gallery in Berlin. In just a few months, the exhibition was visited by more than 200 thousand residents and guests of the German capital.
