On September 2, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the mausoleum of Islam Karimov in the Khazrati Khizr complex in Samarkand and paid tribute to the memory of the First President by laying flowers at his grave.
Verses from the Koran and dua were read.
Islam Abduganievich Karimov proclaimed the independence of Uzbekistan, restored statehood, preserved stability during a difficult period of our history and ensured the interests of our people.
Under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, our people honor the memory of the First President with dignity. In accordance with the decree of the head of our state dated January 25, 2017, extensive work has been done to perpetuate the memory of the First President. Major institutions in our country, central streets in cities are named after Islam Karimov. A scientific and educational memorial complex named after Islam Karimov has been created in Tashkent, and a mausoleum has been built for him in Samarkand.
Our people, who honor their outstanding sons, respectfully remember the name of the First President. This commemoration ceremony is also a tribute to the memory of the departed and an example for the younger generation.
The ceremony was attended by members of Parliament and the government, representatives of public organizations, labor veterans.
At the end of the event, the Head of state returned to Tashkent.
