President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on the socio-economic development of the Samarkand region and the main tasks to be completed by the end of the year.
In recent years, the region has been developing dynamically. However, the growth rate differs from district to district.
Thus, almost half of the region's industry accounts for the city of Samarkand. Over the past seven months, $600 million of foreign direct investment has been disbursed. But 78 percent of this amount fell on the city of Samarkand, Kattakurgan, Pastdargom and Samarkand districts. Over the past five years, energy consumption has increased 1.5 times. In agriculture, uneven yields and high water consumption.
Based on the analysis of problematic issues, the President outlined the available opportunities in the fields of entrepreneurship, investment, industry and tourism.
It is pointed out that there is a need to support entrepreneurship and household farming in mahallas, expand the cultivation of grapes and pistachios, and provide employment for people in the field of roadside service.
This year 170 billion soums have been allocated to provide infrastructure for the territories of the free economic zone "Urgut" in 15 districts and 106 industrial zones of the region. However, 620 hectares of land are not used in them. Responsible persons were instructed to solve problems with infrastructure and attract entrepreneurs to these sites.
The tasks of updating the substations of Akdarya and Pastdargom, the construction of 2 photovoltaic stations with a capacity of 250 megawatts in the city of Samarkand have been determined.
It is indicated that there are opportunities to create 20 thousand permanent jobs in the tourism sector of the region and bring exports to $ 500 million. To do this, it is necessary to introduce more attractive tours, improve the convenience of using roads and public transport. The instruction was given to organize new points of interest in 100 attractive mahallas and villages from the point of view of tourism on the basis of the "tourist mortgage" program.
- Our people are waiting for the implementation of those very big tasks that we have identified. If each khokim does not use the opportunities of his region, produce products and create jobs for people, no one will come from the outside and do it for them. The next four months should be the months that will create a solid foundation for the next year," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
Khokims of the region and districts, responsible persons of industries reported on the issues discussed at the meeting.
With this, the head of state completed his trip to the Samarkand region and returned to Tashkent.
