The President visited the Biochemical Institute in Samarkand

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the activities of the Biochemical Institute of Samarkand State University.

Today, more than 25 thousand students study at the university. The Institute of Agrobiotechnologies and Food Security, the Institute of Engineering Physics, the Research Institute of Turkology and the Biochemical Institute are organized in the structure of the university.

The Biochemical Institute was established this year on the basis of the Faculties of Biology and Chemistry of the University. After large-scale construction work, seven new buildings were erected for the institute. These are 2 academic buildings with more than a thousand seats, a meeting room, a greenhouse, a vivarium, a vivarium - a laboratory for biological research, a herbarium – a laboratory for botanical research, as well as a student canteen.

It is noteworthy that researchers in both fields of science were able to conduct research in one place. This brings the work on the mutual integration of biological and chemical innovations to a new level. 

The Head of State examined the conditions in classrooms, greenhouses, scientific laboratories. I talked to professors and teachers.

The researchers spoke about plans to create new types of selective anticancer drugs based on the chemical transformation of oncological drugs. 

The President gave instructions on the organization of foreign internships for the Institute's employees, the development of pharmaceutical and chemical products, the creation of new varieties of cotton, grapes and wheat. 

Today, the Biochemical Institute trains 2.8 thousand students in 8 areas of education. In general, the university has 12 scientific and 67 educational laboratories.
