Following the high-level talks, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made statements to the media.
The Head of our state expressed gratitude to the leader of Azerbaijan for the traditionally warm hospitality.
- It is symbolic that I am making my first visit to Azerbaijan after the elections. This testifies to the highest level of bilateral cooperation, mutual desire for rapprochement, and the availability of broad opportunities for interaction," the President of Uzbekistan noted.
Uzbekistan expressed its unwavering support for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. In this regard, the leader of our country stressed the special importance of establishing peace and stability in Karabakh, and also praised the scope and pace of the reconstruction work carried out here.
The results of the negotiations held today were noted with great satisfaction, during which the whole range of issues of multifaceted cooperation was discussed.
- It should be noted that there are no problematic issues between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. We stressed the urgency of finding new opportunities and mechanisms for the effective use of great potential in the interests of fraternal peoples," the head of our state noted.
It was stressed that the signed Agreement on the establishment of the Supreme Interstate Council of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan opens a new stage in bilateral relations.
During the summit meetings, the key directions for the development of a multifaceted partnership were identified.
The heads of state attached great importance to the expansion of trade, the development of industrial cooperation and logistics infrastructure. These include major projects in the automotive industry, metallurgy, energy, agriculture, electrical engineering, textile industry, tourism and many other industries.
An agreement was also reached on the implementation of projects for the development of new logistics chains and the construction of infrastructure, increasing the volume of cargo transportation.
As another driver of trade and economic cooperation, the opportunities of the regions of the two countries will be used to the maximum. Khokims and heads of administrations will meet regularly on the ground to promote new projects of cooperation and humanitarian exchange.
Special attention was paid to cultural ties during the negotiations.
Recently, the Days of Uzbek Culture were held in Azerbaijan with great success. Within the framework of these events, a presentation of the novel by the classic of Uzbek literature Abdullah Kadiri "The Past Days", translated into Azerbaijani, was held in Baku.
Mutual Days of Culture and Cinema, meetings of creative and scientific intelligentsia will be held regularly. The first Uzbek-Azerbaijani youth forum will be organized in Uzbekistan this year.
The leaders also agreed to continue fruitful dialogue on the platforms of international organizations such as the United Nations, the Organization of Turkic States, the CIS, the OSCE, the Non-Aligned Movement and other multilateral institutions.
- Today's talks have once again shown our resolute attitude towards strengthening strategic partnership relations. Our efforts are aimed at achieving concrete results," the President of Uzbekistan said in conclusion.
