Negotiations between the delegations of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan were held in an expanded format



The talks between President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev continued in an expanded format with the participation of official delegations of the two countries.

The issues of further deepening of the Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations of strategic partnership and the development of multifaceted cooperation, primarily in the political, trade and economic, transport and communication, cultural and humanitarian spheres, were discussed.

The Head of our state noted the highest level of development of relations between the two countries achieved in recent years, the peoples of which are closely linked by a common religion, spiritual values, similar traditions, language and culture.

The head of Uzbekistan congratulated the Azerbaijani people on the 100th anniversary of the outstanding statesman, national leader Heydar Aliyev.

The Presidents highly appreciated the results of the business forum held on the eve with the participation of leading companies of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

Dynamic growth in trade and industrial cooperation was noted with satisfaction. It is indicated that there are all opportunities to bring the trade turnover to $ 1 billion in the coming years by replacing expensive imports from third countries with affordable and high-quality products from national manufacturers.

Speaking about the development of industrial cooperation, the Presidents welcomed the firm agreements reached on the joint implementation of important projects in the energy, metallurgy, mining, machine-building, electrical engineering, textile, pharmaceutical, agro-industrial and other sectors.

To support such projects, the importance of actively using the funds of the established joint Investment fund was noted.

Support was expressed for the development of interregional cooperation, in particular, the establishment of direct contacts and regular meetings of heads of regional administrations to promote new cooperation projects taking into account their industrial potential.

The leaders of the two countries called the development of cooperation in the field of transport and transit strategically important.

Last year, the volume of Uzbek cargo transportation through the port of Baku increased almost twice. Uzbekistan intends to further increase cargo transportation using the modern transport network of Azerbaijan.

In this context, measures were discussed to create a joint logistics company within the Trans-Caspian Corridor, as well as the construction of warehouse infrastructure and logistics centers in the ports of Baku and third countries.

A number of other agreements have been reached aimed at strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties, in particular on holding Days of Culture and Cinema, meetings of creative and scientific intelligentsia, youth organizations.

During the meeting, the reports of the foreign ministers, the Co-Chairs of the Intergovernmental Commission, the Ministers of Transport and Energy, Agriculture and Culture on the agenda of the negotiations were heard.

Following the results, the heads of state instructed to prepare a number of joint roadmaps and establish mechanisms for the effective implementation of the agreements reached.
