The Presidents of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan discussed prospects for the development of bilateral practical cooperation



President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met in a narrow format at the Zagulba residence.

The Head of our state thanked the President of Azerbaijan for the invitation and the warm hospitality extended to the delegation of Uzbekistan.

The Presidents exchanged views on further expansion of the Uzbek-Azerbaijani multifaceted strategic partnership relations.

The intensification of contacts at the level of parliaments, governments, regions, foreign policy and other departments, analytical circles was noted with satisfaction.

The volume of trade turnover between the two countries has been steadily growing in recent years. The number of joint ventures has increased 4 times.

Successful examples of fruitful cooperation were projects on the organization of assembly of Uzbek cars, sericulture and textile clusters in Azerbaijan.

Following the results of the business forum held on the eve of the visit, a solid portfolio of new cooperation projects and trade contracts was formed.

The leaders of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan discussed prospects for deepening industrial cooperation in energy, mechanical engineering, metallurgy, urban planning, agriculture, mining, textile, sericulture, pharmaceutical, electrical engineering and other industries.

In order to support and promote joint projects, the importance of ensuring the effective operation of the established Uzbek-Azerbaijani Investment company was emphasized.

Special attention is paid to the development of cooperation in the field of transport and transit. The necessity of increasing cargo transportation along the Middle Corridor, joint development of logistics and port infrastructure was noted.

The Presidents stressed the importance of developing interregional cooperation, organizing regular meetings of regional leaders of the two countries to jointly develop and promote new cooperation projects.

They expressed mutual commitment to the development of cultural and humanitarian exchanges, the practical implementation of joint programs in the field of education and science.

The importance of joining efforts in the fight against international terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, and cybercrime was emphasized.

The Heads of State also exchanged views on the international and regional agenda, discussed issues of continuing intensive dialogue and mutual support within multilateral structures.
