President of Uzbekistan to take part in Global Development Summit



On June 24, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, at the invitation of the President of China Xi Jinping, will take part in a High-level Dialogue on Global Development in the BRICS Plus format.

The event, which will be held under the chairmanship of the Chinese side online, will also be attended by the heads of state and government of the BRICS group – Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, as well as the leaders of Algeria, Argentina, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Malaysia and others. Delegations from 18 countries are expected to attend the event.

The agenda of the forum includes issues of strengthening the global partnership for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Agenda for the period up to 2030. The main attention will be paid to enhancing practical cooperation, primarily in the green economy, high technologies, innovations, digitalization, transport, and logistics, and humanitarian exchange.

It is expected that the President of Uzbekistan in his speech will identify priority areas of broad international cooperation in the joint achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.

It should be noted that the new BRICS Plus format was launched to establish mutually beneficial and multifaceted cooperation between the BRICS Group states and other leading developing countries.

The Forum plays an important role in promoting mutual trade and investment, the transfer of advanced technologies and knowledge, the development of cooperative ties and transport-communication connectivity, strengthening constructive dialogue in security.

Over 3 billion people live in the BRICS countries. They account for about 25 percent of the global GDP, about 20 percent of global trade, and 25 percent of direct investment.
