The leaders of Uzbekistan and Hungary stressed the importance of increasing practical cooperation

Upon arrival in Budapest, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

Prime Minister Viktor Orban sincerely thanked the head of our state for his personal participation in the events in connection with the Hungarian state holiday - St. Stephen's Day and in the final of the men's race of the World Athletics Championships, which is being held in the Hungarian capital these days.

In turn, the leader of Uzbekistan cordially congratulated the head of the Government and the friendly people of Hungary on the national holiday. It was particularly noted that the holding of the World Championship in Budapest testifies to the great traditions and high sporting achievements of this country in recent years.

Issues of further deepening of the Uzbek-Hungarian strategic partnership and building up multifaceted cooperation were discussed.

The progressive dynamics of the development of practical cooperation in all areas was noted with great satisfaction. Agreements at the highest level are being effectively implemented, fruitful contacts have been established at the level of parliaments, governments, departments and regional administrations.

The volume of mutual trade is growing, cooperation between leading enterprises in various sectors of the economy is increasing.

The entry of the Hungarian OTP bank into the banking and financial market of Uzbekistan was called a strategic project and an important signal for European business.

In addition, such large Hungarian companies as Bonafarm, Gedeon Richter, Meditop, Wizz Air and others are actively involved in projects of trade, economic and investment cooperation with Uzbekistan.

The importance of further promotion of joint programs in the cultural and humanitarian sphere was emphasized.

The launch of direct flights between Tashkent and Budapest from August 20 this year was noted as a significant event contributing to the activation of business ties and an increase in tourist flow.

A thorough exchange of views took place on the regional agenda, including within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States.

It was agreed to continue close and constructive cooperation within the framework of the United Nations and other international platforms.
