President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov within the framework of the program of his stay in Ashgabat.
During the meeting, the heads of state discussed topical issues of Uzbek-Turkmen relations of in-depth strategic partnership based on centuries-old ties of friendship and good neighborliness between fraternal peoples.
The expansion of practical cooperation in all areas was noted with satisfaction.
Agreements at the highest level are being successfully implemented. Contacts between Governments, ministries and departments are carried out on a systematic basis.
The volume of mutual trade is growing, mutually beneficial cooperation in various sectors of the economy is expanding. The need to launch the joint trading zone "Shavat-Dashoguz" as soon as possible was noted.
The importance of further promotion of joint cooperation projects, development of interregional exchanges and cultural and humanitarian contacts was emphasized.
There was also a thorough exchange of views on the regional agenda.
