On July 14, in Tashkent, at a joint meeting of the Legislative Chamber and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the inauguration ceremony of the elected President of the Republic of Uzbekistan took place.
The ceremony was attended by deputies and senators, heads of state organizations, representatives of the diplomatic corps and the public, employees of domestic and foreign mass media.
The ceremony was opened by the Chairman of the Central Election Commission Z.Nizamkhodjaev. He noted that the presidential elections were held in accordance with the updated Constitution and democratic principles, in an atmosphere of political activity. According to the results of voting, a candidate from the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Business People – the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev was elected to the post of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, who received 87.05 percent of the votes. The Chairman of the Central Election Commission congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev and handed him a certificate of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
In accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev took the oath: "I solemnly swear to faithfully serve the people of Uzbekistan, strictly follow the Constitution and laws of the republic, guarantee the rights and freedoms of citizens, faithfully fulfill the duties assigned to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan."
Then President Shavkat Mirziyoyev delivered his inaugural speech.
– I feel with all my heart, with all my soul, what a huge personal responsibility I take on myself today for ensuring the independence of Uzbekistan, the peaceful and prosperous life of our more than 36 million people. With filial love and devotion, I bow low to our multinational, courageous and wise people for this high trust," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
It was noted that Uzbekistan is entering a new era. The coming period will be a time of profound, crucial changes and huge transformations in the political, socio-economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres for our country. The new time needs new ideas and initiatives, new results.
Ongoing conflicts in different regions give rise to new problems of global climate change and the growing shortage of natural, including water, resources also have a strong negative impact on sustainable development. In such a difficult and alarming situation, we must clearly define the only right way for the country to pursue an effective domestic and foreign policy that meets the interests of our people, and firmly follow this course in practice, the President stressed.
The Head of State outlined strategic goals for the next seven years. These are the improvement of legislative and executive power, the creation of a compact and effective management system, the development of the social sphere, the expansion of business opportunities, the increase of jobs and incomes of the population.
The principles of "green" economy and "green" energy will be more widely implemented. The volume of investments in the country's economy will increase several times. An important goal has been set – to bring the gross domestic product to $160 billion by 2030.
During his speech, the Head of state addressed the youth.
– My dear sons and daughters, today history itself, time itself opens up unprecedented opportunities for you. You are capable of great deeds that will be inscribed in the history of Uzbekistan in golden letters," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
It was noted that Uzbekistan is strong with its multinational people living as a united and friendly family. Our country will continue to be a space of humanism and tolerance.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced the consistent continuation of a deeply thought-out foreign policy and economic diplomacy. The main goal will be to further strengthen relations with the states of our region, to raise cooperation with foreign partners and international organizations to a new level. The urgent task will remain to solve the problems of ecology and environmental protection, water scarcity.
In his speech, the President placed great emphasis not on various figures and economic indicators, but on the greatest achievement of our country: people's consciousness and worldview have changed, confidence in themselves and in the future has strengthened in their hearts.
A nation capable of changing itself is undoubtedly capable of changing its life and social environment, and it will certainly achieve its noble goals.
– It is a great happiness and a great honor for me to serve my native people on the way to new frontiers, a glorious future. Together with you, with all my compatriots, I am ready to work tirelessly to achieve the great goal that has become the meaning of my life – to build a New Uzbekistan, the foundation of the Third Renaissance, using all my strength and knowledge, experience and potential," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
